Future proofing communities and the local economy.
Part of our group of courses on Climate Adaption, this course will provide an overview of the causes and impacts of climate change through the lens of urban green spaces. Deepen your knowledge, develop your business case and refine your strategy and action plan.
It's clear that climate change is already affecting our plants, trees and wider biodiversity of urban greenspaces. The impacts of climate change will only increase in severity over the coming decades and possibly beyond. In response, APSE has developed a course which looks at changes to our current horticultural practices, as well as how best to use trees and plants that can cope or even thrive despite the changes. We will also consider public engagement, and the role of domestic gardens across our communities.
In addition to practical tips and signposting further advice, the course will help participants to build a business cases and climate adaption strategies for urban green spaces.
Learning Outcomes:
- Appreciate the causes and impacts of climate change on, plants, trees and urban green spaces.
- Consider the role of greenspaces in combatting climate change.
- Build resilient landscapes and Identify trees and plants which can cope and thrive despite the effects of climate change.
- Discuss adaptions to our current horticultural practices to meet the challenges of climate change.
- Explore the benefits of community engagement and the role of domestic gardens.
