From Award Winners to Future Challenges
Congratulations to Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, winners of the APSE Service Award for Sports and Leisure Services, and Winchester City Council, winners of the Health and Wellbeing Initiative Award. We're delighted that both councils will be joining our next Sports and Leisure Network Meeting on 12 November to share the stories behind their award-winning work. The meeting will showcase APSE Service Award winners and is free for APSE members to attend.
In this edition, you'll also find our latest briefing, Healthy Life Expectancy Trends in the UK: A Watershed Moment, which explores widening health inequalities and highlights the increasingly important role local authority leisure services can play in supporting preventative health and wellbeing.
APSE continues to engage with the sector's sustainability agenda through the Sport and Environment Climate Coalition (SECC). The next meeting will take place on 12 October and will include discussions on climate adaptation planning across the sport and physical activity sector, including DCMS's work on the next National Adaptation Programme.
Finally, don't forget the APSE Southern Active Communities Network meeting on 1 October, which provides another excellent opportunity for members to share experiences, discuss emerging challenges and learn from colleagues across the sector.
