Warwick District Council has announced the transfer of 20 new council homes into its ownership, with energy efficiency forming a key part of the development.
All homes will be equipped with photovoltaic solar panels and air source heat pumps, supporting the council's 'low cost, low carbon' ambitions to help reduce both emissions and energy costs for residents.
The properties range from one-bed maisonettes to four-bedroom family homes and will be made available for social rent, affordable rent or shared ownership through the HomeChoice register.
Councillor Chris King, Portfolio Holder for Place at Warwick District Council, said: "This is exactly the kind of forward-thinking looking development we want to see in Warwick District. Delivering much-needed affordable homes to our Net Zero Carbon DPD standard demonstrates that tackling housing need and responding to the climate emergency can go hand in hand. Solar panels and air source heat pumps will help make these homes more sustainable and set a strong benchmark for future development."
