Torridge District Council are installing 26 new electric vehicle chargers across the district, aiming to accelerate the transition to cleaner transport.
The chargers, including a number of rapid-charge units, will be installed in council-owned car parks across Torridge, increasing access to public charging infrastructure.
The scheme has been designed with accessibility at the forefront, with the council committing to install accessible parking bays where possible and ensure charging hardware meets accessibility requirements as standard.
The first phase of the project is expected to go live by the end of this year, and forms part of the council's wider commitments to supporting sustainable growth and reducing carbon emissions across the district.
