Pembrokeshire County Council has completed a major housing upgrade at Fleming Crescent by integrating solar technology as part of wider efforts to improve energy efficiency across three residential blocks.
The scheme included the full replacement of the roofs of 54 flats, alongside structural improvements designed to enhance the long-term performance and resilience of the buildings. As part of the project, solar panels have been installed to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and help lower energy costs for tenants.
Partly funded through the Welsh Government’s Optimised Retrofit Programme, the project reflects the increasing role of national funding in enabling local authorities to deliver low-carbon improvements to existing housing stock.
Pembrokeshire County council have stated that the solar installations form part of its wider decarbonisation programme, with the scheme contributing to their efforts to provide safer, warmer and more sustainable homes. The project also highlights how local authorities are combining building upgrades with renewable technologies to reduce energy demand and support longer-term sustainability.
