Nottingham expands zero-emission fleet

Nottingham expands zero-emission fleet

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) has announced an order for an additional 12 electric double-decker buses, further progressing its transition to a zero-emission fleet.

This follows NCT’s previous announcement of ordering 19 buses, bringing the total number of new electric vehicles on order to 31. The new 12 buses are expected to enter service in April 2027, with the previously announced vehicles due to arrive late 2026.

The investment has been supported through funding from the Mayor of the East Midlands Combined Authority (EMCCA), awarded by Nottinghamshire County Council.

The expansion forms part of wider regional efforts to tackle congestion and air pollution, with a focus on promoting safer, greener travel and improving the reliability of transport across the East Midlands by 2040.
