APSE Central: Tour of Sherbourne Recycling – the UK’s most advanced MRF
Thursday 30 July
10:30am-1pm
Sherbourne Resource Park, 255 London Rd, Coventry CV3 4AR
FREE and exclusively for APSE Central Region members
Join us in Coventry for a tour of the award-winning Sherbourne Recycling, the UK’s most advanced Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), wholly local authority-owned by eight West Midlands authorities in an industry first. There will also be presentations and networking opportunities over lunch, following the tour.
Sherbourne Recycling are proud recipients of the APSE Service Award for Best Commercial and Entrepreneurship Initiative in 2025.
Incorporated in 2021 and in operation since 2023, the MRF uses the latest technologies including AI and robotics to process the fully commingled dry mixed recycling, including flexible plastics, collected from over 1.5 million residents across the Midlands.
There will also be a number of presentations before and after the tour (agenda TBC), followed by a free buffet lunch and refreshments on site.
- Due to limited capacity at the venue and for the tour and expected demand, we are limiting attendance to up to two delegates from each authority to begin with.
- If the event is full, you will be added to a waiting list and informed before the event if any spare places arise.
- The event will be FREE to attend for APSE’s Central Region member councils only
- If you are unable to attend the event, please let us know in advance and ideally with no less than 48 hours’ notice.
- There will be a £99+ VAT charge if you fail to attend without informing us or for last minute cancellations – we have costs to cover the venue and lunch, plus non-attendance leads to food waste.
- Due to the limited capacity of the event, it is also unfair to those who were unable to gain a place, if people take up places and do not attend on the day.
- Full PPE will be provided, but due to the nature of the site please wear appropriate clothing i.e. sensible shoes, long sleeves, no shorts, etc.
- Once you have booked you will be sent a form from Sherbourne to complete and return, to confirm your place and ensure you have read the health and safety and access information, as it is not normally a publicly accessible site. Failure to return the form means you may risk losing your place.
