APSE Wales is hosting an online discussion for council members exploring the future of local government services in Wales, informed by UNISON Cymru’s latest report on the challenges and choices facing the sector [Full report English] [Full report Cymraeg].

The session will examine the report’s key findings, including the long-term impact of funding pressures, workforce challenges and rising demand on council services, alongside the implications for service delivery, resilience and sustainability across Welsh local government.

The meeting will feature a presentation from Andy Mudd, APSE Associate and author of the UNISON Cymru report, who will provide insight into the evidence base, core themes and recommendations. Darron Dupre, Head of Local Government at UNISON Cymru, will also present, offering a trade union perspective on what the findings mean for councils, staff and communities.
