PIN is showcasing its pioneering work with Angus Council and Cireco to help Scottish local authorities transform how HWRC operations are planned and delivered. 

Resource planning for HWRC sites is a constant challenge.  

Demand is difficult to predict – the variable seasons, days of the week, weather, public holidays and even the economy has an impact. Operations are planned and delivered manually, with limited data and analytics to support planning decisions or optimisation. 

Competing objectives create additional complexity – delivering uninterrupted service, maximising recycling rates whilst operating efficiently and reducing carbon emissions. 

Operators respond to the uncertainty by deploying a ‘safe’ level of transport and disposal capacity.   

In partnership with Angus Council and Cireco, PIN has identified a transformative opportunity for the industry. Data from our digital tracking system shows that: 

• HWRC demand can be predicted 

• Capacity planning can be improved 

• Transport operations can be up to 30% more efficient 

Angus and Cireco are already reaping the benefits of working with PIN by adjusting resource levels, reducing vehicle capacity and avoiding spend on new containers. 

The next generation of the platform will be showcased at APSE in partnership with Angus Council. Taking the opportunity to a new level, leveraging AI insights to predict both HWRC demand and transport capacity for every day of operations.
