Doncaster Culture & Leisure Trust (DCLT) is a registered charity delivering premier leisure, culture and hospitality provision in the City of Doncaster.
To achieve the Trust’s ambition of continuous improvement and growth we are seeking an exceptional manager, who is highly motivated and experienced to work with our Leadership team to ensure the success of our services and facilities across our leisure venue portfolio.
Position: Area Manager, Leisure
Reports to: Head of Health and Leisure
Responsible for: Operations and Commercial Managers, Health Club Manager and General Manager
Location: Based at head office (The Dome) and working across the Trust’s venues
Salary: £45,000
Hours: 37 hours, worked to the needs of the business
About the Role
The Area Manager, Leisure, is a prominent position in the Trusts Leadership team and plays a crucial role in the success of our leisure venues.
Leading a team of managers, you will ensure that our leisure venues are performing against agreed targets and expected outcomes, whilst ensuring excellent customer services.
You will work with colleagues to develop and implement key strategies that can deliver growth and increased engagement for local communities.
You will be responsible for coaching and nurturing a team of managers so they can fulfil their duties to the expected standards and capabilities.
The key areas of the role are:
- Financial and Commercial - deliver strategies to increase income and reduce costs, plan resources to meet financial objectives, empower managers to be accountable for budgets and forecast
- Compliance - audit against KPI’s and service standards
- Service Standards - ensure consistency and excellence across venues in delivery of service, support engagement with organisations and groups, champion excellent customer service, compliance delivery
- Leadership - Support, coach and mentor designated colleagues, performance management, recruitment and onboarding, deliver training plans
- Strategy - Align and deliver organisational strategies: Standards and Behaviours, Continuous Improvement, Customer Relations and Engagement, and Workforce Development
About you
You have significant management experience in the leisure industry, in a role which involves delivering excellent services to a high volume of customers.
A strong understanding of financial reports, coupled with commercial acumen to achieve linked performance indicators.
You understand the importance of creating a safe environment for customers and staff through a strong interest in health safety and risk management, which is underpinned by a methodical approach, document control, staff planning and management.
A natural leader, you have proven ability of managing and developing people to achieve, through your own enthusiastic, energetic and passionate approach to work.
A keen focus on personal development, self and others, is crucial to this role.
