Drawing on the findings from AI Readiness of UK Local Authorities 2025, Daniel Shorr (GoLLM) and Dr Luciana Blaha (Heriot-Watt University) will present insights from an 18-month, data-driven assessment of 208 UK councils. The research examined data maturity, AI maturity and AI culture, combining quantitative scoring with detailed analysis of strategies, governance arrangements and live AI deployments.
This session focus on what elected members and senior officers need to consider: governance, risk, accountability, data infrastructure and organisational culture.
We will also be joined by Yasmine Hajji, Senior Research Analyst at Socitm, who will share why AI governance matters and how Socitm supports councils with practical frameworks, templates, and guidance to adopt AI responsibly and safely.
If your council is experimenting with AI pilots, or considering where to start, this online meeting will help you understand what “readiness” really looks like, and what practical steps can strengthen your organisation’s capability to adopt AI responsibly and strategically.
Join us to explore the evidence, the risks and the opportunities. And to ask the critical question: Are you ready?
