APSE Summer Series: A Councillor's Guide To Frontline Services

We are delighted to announce our Councillor's Guide to Frontline Services Summer Series for newly elected members and current councillors looking to refresh their knowledge and expertise.

Following the recent local elections, our Summer Series aims to equip elected members with the knowledge, insights and practical tools to effectively support their council and communities.

The series covers key frontline service areas, including parks and greenspaces, highways, bereavement, waste, catering and housing, and addresses a range of pressing issues such as counter-terrorism, pothole management, waste crime, safe housing and recruitment.

With expert insights from our APSE Associates, legal specialists, Counter Terrorism Police and industry leaders, we look forward to welcoming elected councillors from across the UK to our Summer Series.

Wednesday 24 June

14:00 - 15:00

We will be joined by Dr Amy Batley of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office who will discuss Counter Terrorism Policing's new ACT for Local Authorities initiative.

The initiative provides targeted guidance to support councils to assess and mitigate terrorism-related risks and encourages councils to consider proportionate security measures which don’t unduly burden their operations.

Adam Tattersley of Counter Terrorism Police North East will also present on the innovative and effective initiatives that have been developed as a result of local authority engagement with this initiative in the North East region.
