APSE Scotland Annual General Meeting 2025 - Tuesday 8 July

APSE Scotland Annual General Meeting 2025 - Tuesday 8 July

A FREE seminar for APSE Scotland member councils which incorporates the Scotland AGM. Join us at the Glasgow Hilton as we discuss the General Power of Competence, including the current legal powers and the potential introduction of a General Power of competence for Scotland.

Our sessions will bring together local authority leaders, policy experts and frontline voices to explore how Scottish local authorities are currently using their legal powers to not only generate income but to regenerate their communities and how this potential new power which Scottish Government recently consulted on, may add additional tools to the ones already available in Scotland.

We’ll also provide an overview of the APSE response to the recent Scottish Government consultation which highlighted:-

· Current limitations for APSE members in Scotland

· Context and use of a General Power of Competence

· Other Limitations on the Power

· Income generation advantages

Whether you're looking to increase your knowledge of this potential new Power or understand what this might mean for local authorities across Scotland, this seminar will discuss and debate some of the questions which colleagues may have regarding this and existing Powers.

The event also incorporates the APSE Scotland AGM which this year includes APSE representation (Agenda Item 6). APSE Scotland’s Executive Committee positions will be elected at this AGM including:-

· Scottish Chair

· Scottish Secretary

· Scottish Vice Chair

· Scottish Financial Advisor

· Scottish Network Chairs (8 in total)

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Please ensure your authority is represented at this meeting which is your chance to share in the governance of your APSE area.
