Join us in Derby for a day covering all aspects of Active Living. This will also include a hands-on guided tour of Derby City Centre to see Derby City Council’s MJ Award-winning School Safe Havens scheme in action, a visit to their Digital Enforcement Hub and successful pavement parking ban, all of which are paying huge dividends in increasing the health and wellbeing of residents across the city by changing driver behaviour in a positive and constructive manner, reducing air pollution and congestion.
This will also be an opportunity to hear from a wide range of speakers including a leading active transport strategy expert, and APSE Award shortlisted council, and others from across our region who are innovating on promoting healthier lives across their districts. From leisure centres, active wellbeing to active menopause, inclusivity and an insight into how Local Government Reorganisation will have an impact on authorities leisure services based on an authority's successful journey through LGR.
This will be an insightful, interactive and hands-on day that will be of interest to all local authority officers and elected members, and especially those with an interest in highways, transport, planning, public realm, enforcement, leisure and greenspace, culture and wellbeing services.
Active Living is a vital issue and topic for all local authorities, cross-cutting so many service areas, from leisure and sports centres, but also active transport, planning, parks and greenspaces. Local authorities have a key part to play in promoting physical activity and wellbeing to its residents, improving livelihoods, health outcomes and reducing pressure on health services that are under strain.
