Wyre is a diverse and exciting borough in the west of Lancashire which combines historic coastal and market towns with new and growing business, retail and leisure developments. The eastern edge of the borough lies within the Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty and to the west stands the multi-award winning coastal defences linking the seaside towns of Fleetwood and Cleveleys. The Civic Centre is located in the market town of Poulton-le-Fylde, recently named as one of the most desirable place to live and work in the country. With vibrant town centres, stunning coastal views and tranquil countryside, Wyre has something for everyone.

The role will work closely with the Corporate Director of Resources (s.151 Officer) and be instrumental in helping to shape the Financial Services Team. The Head of Finance will lead on the preparation of the Council’s budget and oversee the production of the Statement of Accounts under the direction of the Corporate Director of Resources.

Digital transformation is a key strand to the Council’s Business Plan and the post will be responsible for overseeing the development and operation of the key financial systems including the Civica integrated ledger system and Civica Payments cash receipting system.

They will co-ordinate all work relating to monitoring the Council’s revenue and capital budgets and produce regular reports, under the direction of the Corporate Director of Resources, to Members during the course of the financial year. They will support the delivery of the council’s key business plan objectives and help to ensure the council’s long-term financial health and sustainability is maintained.

The successful applicant will be an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
