Climate change, energy and sustainability remain key policy agendas for all, with the recent COP26 event which took place in Glasgow in November and the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic which remains a priority worldwide, these areas have been brought into even sharper focus. Housing and building repairs and maintenance services play a pivotal role in helping to meet these important agendas and are reviewing and adapting their services in order to help achieve Council and Scottish Government targets. Add budget pressures which have intensified since the beginning of the COVID 19 health pandemic into the mix and local authority services are now facing decisions which are even more difficult than those faced before. This seminar brings together a range of expert speakers that will explore topics such APSE’s Local Government Commission’s “Local by Default” findings, achieving net zero emissions including through sustainability approaches, retrofitting and building greener as well as how councils are looking to overcome workforce challenges including recruitment, retention and skills. The event will also present an excellent opportunity for delegates to share best practice, see firsthand some of the technologies in use as well as gain an overview of how colleagues across Scotland are meeting the challenges currently faced.
This is an in-person event and will take place within all current COVID guidance however APSE will notify all delegates should any necessary changes need to be made to the format, date or programme of this event. We are therefore advising all delegates not to book accommodation (out with our packages) or any travel tickets until the format has been fully confirmed.
