APSE Northern seminars
Crime and Communities - Thursday 5 June 2008
The APSE northern annual seminar and annual general meeting will this year be on the theme of 'Crime and Communities: Tackling the issues that matter to citizens'
Looking at how we tackle environmental issues such as fly tipping and graffiti, develop neighbourhood strategies to tackle anti-social behaviour on housing estates, gang and youth related violence and intimidation, and how we structure police, community safety and environmental services in light of the Flanagan review into neighbourhood policing.
The seminar includes the following speakers and topics:
- Walker Morris Solicitors - on using legal powers under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005
- The Home Office - on the Flanagan review and neighbourhood policing
- Rochdale Boroughwide Housing - looking at neighbourhood agreements and anti-social behaviour strategies
- NACRO - looking at causes and prevention of youth crime and gang related violence
- Department for Communities and Local Government (North East Resource Centre) - on skills training for neighbourhood wardens
- Stockton on Tees - on how they have developed an effective community safety plan
- Safer Middlesbrough - looking at geographical intelligence systems to map and tackle crime
