Looking for an interim manager?

What is an interim manager?

An APSE interim manager is an experienced local government practitioner who, as an associate of APSE, will bring expertise and experience to a local authority for a determined period of time.

Interims differ from consultants in that a consultant may be brought in to complete one specific report, where as an interim manager will become embedded within the Council, working a part of the management team. They will often have budgetary responsibility.

Interims act as mentors to staff to encourage and foster internal development. They will endeavour to up-skill staff throughout the assignment to leave a positive legacy.

APSE has created a downloadable guide to interim management in local government.
