We would also like to take the opportunity to congratulate all of our finalists and winners at the APSE performance networks awards ceremony in Blackpool back in December, hosted by Heart Breakfast Show presenter, Lorna Bancroft. So, what’s new for this year?
As a member of APSE Performance Networks you can also take advantage of the range of service developments that are taking place in the current year.
Performance Networks has been working with NABMA over a benchmarking pilot for markets during 2017 which was commissioned by 10 local authorities. This was on a facility by facility comparison and covered both indoor and outdoor markets. Following the success of the pilot, Market operations will be added as one of the service areas in performance networks for 2017-18. For those authorities who are currently subscribed to all the performance network services, participation in this new module is free of charge.
The performance indicators are carefully tailored to create a broad view of all aspects of the service. The information that this module offers will allow you to compare your performance on productivity, cost, staffing, and customer satisfaction.
The Trading Standards model has been rolled out on a UK wide basis this year following a successful pilot in 2016 and the successful development of the environmental health benchmarking module. APSE performance networks member authorities who are subscribed to all services will be able to participate in this model free of charge.
We are currently working with the councils in Northern Ireland to meet the needs of Part 12 of the Local Government Act and the new benchmarking requirements. Part of this project has seen the development of new modules in Northern Ireland for corporate services, planning, community development, economic development and cultural services. APSE are currently working with other organisations such as the WLGA to roll the corporate services module out to other countries.
Cemetery and crematoria - Following on from LAMS (Land Audit Management System) for green spaces and streets, APSE is soon to launch LAMS quality inspections for the maintenance of the grounds covered by your respective cemetery and crematoria services.
Monitoring App - We have been working with BBITS/Love Clean Streets over developing an App for LAMS. The App includes GIS location and photo evidence for the inspections which eliminates the manual input of spreadsheets.
APSE continues to work with CAMMS to develop a new database for performance networks to make it easier to report and analyse data and to build a platform for future webenabled services. We are re-designing our web portal, which will include individual log-ins and will enable more reports and analysis to be uploaded onto the web. This will be rolled out during this winter and all corporate contacts will have received a letter asking them to check nominated contacts and levels of access within their authority.
The second batch deadline of 31 January 2018 is fast approaching! If you send your data through to us, we will be able to produce the following reports for you over the coming months free of charge (if you are a subscribed member for this service):
• Performance reports; report displaying graphically performance indicator results for all organisations within your family group
• Performance indicator standings tables; tabular report detailing positioning information of each PI within your family group and across the whole service area
• Performance at a glance report; dashboard of key performance indicators showing individual performance compared to current averages and previous performance
• Direction of travel report; showing your performance over the past 5 years compared to the average for key performance indicators
• Summary report; detailing trend analysis across the whole service area and highest, lowest and average figures
• Best practice case studies from the best performing and most improved authorities on how they have achieved that level of performance
• Bespoke analysis - on request - reports by special comparator group, trend analysis for example
Participating in APSE performance networks will assist you to identify cost savings, demonstrate value for money and identify innovative approaches to service delivery.
Free support to guide you through the benchmarking process – data completion sessions
With the second batch deadline fast approaching, we are offering further data completion training sessions, as usual FREE OF CHARGE.
Data completion training helps in both understanding the performance networks reports and activities as well as more technical training on completing the data templates.
Training courses are being held subject to demand, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to request this.
The sessions are aimed at those people who fill in the data templates who have little or no previous experience of how to do this. The training will combine a thorough introduction to APSE performance networks and the process followed by a detailed look at the templates. These sessions are not service specific and so give a general overview on the workings of the templates and how to utilise the guidance notes.
