Who we are
What we do

RENEW008 - Green Bonds - 300915

This authority is interested to know whether any other APSE members have looked into the potential of using Green Bonds to fund large scale, long term housing and energy projects in their areas. They would be grateful to receive any relevant information.

RENEW006 - Energy procurement and costs - 160315

This APSE Energy member is interested in how other local authorities procure their energy, for example whether they utilise;
-        Crown Commercial Services energy framework
-        Regional Purchasing Organisation frameworks
-        An energy broker, such as LASER or
-        Procure their energy directly.
They are also keen to know, for where data is available, the average unit costs paid by other local authorities for ;
-        Gas
-        HH electric and
-        NHH electric.

RENEW005 - Collective switching experience 020315

This authority run a collective switching service but take up of the service is lower than they had hoped. They are keen to hear from other APSE members who have been through the same exercise.

If you have run a collective switching service:

  • Who provides the service?
  • Would you recommend your provider?
  • Does the service run continually? If so why did you choose this approach?
  • Are there periods when residents can register and periods when registration is closed? If registration is at set times, have these proved to be the right times?
  • Is the service open to both residents and businesses?
  • What do you do to encourage uptake of the service?
  • What do you think increases uptake of the service?

They would be keen to receive any other relevant information.

RENEW004 - Local energy schemes 240914
This authority is currently taking a close look at local energy schemes and some actual figures from others (especially with regard to income generation) would help make a case. They are looking for high level information about local energy schemes including:

  • The type of scheme
  • Energy generation capacity
  • The scheme capital cost
  • Income generation p/a
  • Lead in time from initial planning/feasibility study to energy production

RENEW003 - Impacts of changes to ECO and Green Deal
APSE is keen to learn about the effects that the recently announced changes to ECO and Green Deal funding are having on councils and businesses. Specifically we would like to hear about:

  • The impacts on local authority schemes
  • The impacts on local businesses (and so jobs) that have set themselves up to provide services which are dependent upon ECO and Green Deal funding

RENEW001 - Energy Co-Operatives and Energy Switching 010213
This authority is seeking information and experience from other local authorities who have:

  • Set up an Energy Co-Operative or similar
  • Been involved in a community energy switching project
  • They would like to hear about the results of such projects as well as experience of the practicalities of establishing the schemes.
