Our natural assets of coast, countryside and location make Conwy a fantastic place to live and work.  But so does the quality of our public realm – our parks and pavements, roads and roundabouts.  We know that clean streets, safe roads and attractive green spaces are hugely important to our residents and we are looking for someone who understands that and can make it happen.

Three years ago, Conwy’s Environment, Roads & Facilities Service underwent a major restructure which brought together essential front line operations – delivered in-house – into a single Open Spaces group.  As Open Spaces Manager, you will have overall responsibility for Highway Maintenance, Street Cleansing, Parks, Grounds Maintenance, Countryside and Rights of Way.

It is a broad and challenging remit and you will need substantial knowledge and experience in at least one - preferably more than one - of the service areas.  To be part of our strong and supportive departmental management team you will need to be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and an enthusiastic approach to challenges.

The innovative multi-disciplinary staff structure of Open Spaces – recognised as a finalist at the APSE awards – is in place and has delivered significant savings.  What we need now is a leader to drive cultural, operational and commercial change in order to secure the future of these services and ensure that Conwy is the right environment to live, work and visit.

Conwy is committed to safeguarding - qualifications and references will be verified.
