Who we are
What we do

Groundwater Dynamics Ltd

Founded in 2012, Groundwater Dynamics Ltd (GWD) is the sole UK & Eire provider of the patented Energy-passive Groundwater Recharge Pump (EGRP) technology which was designed & developed in the United States in 1997 and which reached commercial markets there in 2010. This new chapter in groundwater management takes a three dimensional approach to drainage enabling water to infiltrate quicker and travel naturally back into the water table.

During the formative years of the business, GWD focussed its attention on sports field drainage as this is the most demanding sector for drainage, where performance standards have to meet Sport England criteria and beyond. If the system could work in this demanding environment then it would be proven at the highest level as the UK & Eire has the best professional groundsmen in the world, a community who are wary & sceptical of new products.

Our first installation at Edgbaston County Cricket Ground in March 2013 became the launch pad for new enquiries as the system successfully drained a heavy clay sun-soil in an area which had long standing issues with saturation & ponding. Since then, GWD has delivered over 100 successful installations and has brought System Design in-house in order to control & develop the quality & delivery of the end product.

GWD has now expanded its operation and has categorized its activities into three areas;

  1. Drainage
  2. De-Watering
  3. Ground Stabilisation

Our original work in proving the performance of the EGRP system in sports fields has now expanded to other areas including Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) where we work with Local Authorities and City Councils and Construction Companies where GWD provides solutions for drainage and dewatering without the need for storm water to enter public storm drains & sewers.

GWD has also worked closely with a consulting engineering group called Curtins and has developed a test drilling protocol where test boreholes are filled with water &  infiltration rates are measured in order to generate site specific data which Curtins use in order to generate an engineering Drainage Design Statement. This has opened new markets including work on Airports and has significantly enhanced the project design capability of the business.

In terms of the installation process, GWD employs its own design, labour & specialist drilling machinery and is able to deliver high quality solutions for long-standing drainage issues. All projects are managed by GWD and GPS based as-built drawings are provided to the client post installation showing the location and depth of each device for future reference.

GWD is working hard to continually improve its systems and performance as a company and its head office staff, based near Leamington Spa in the Midlands, are always on hand to assist with new or existing client enquiries. In 2016, the business was awarded runners up in the IOG’s Most Innovative Product of the Year awards – proof that we are beginning to get recognition at the highest levels.
